Off the back of winning her second GRAMMY award, celebrated singer-songwriter Delilah Montagu presents her newest single, ‘Without Words’. The single, featured on her upcoming EP, invites listeners into a runaway romance in Mexico City. Known for her deeply personal music as well as for her killer collaborations with Fred Again, David Guetta and Black Coffee, Delilah delves into what has been her creative process thus far. As this new track marks the first of many forthcoming releases, Delilah shares with us her excitement.

Congratulations on your second GRAMMY win! ‘Without Words’, from your upcoming EP, beautifully captures a runaway romance in Mexico City. Your music often feels deeply personal, drawing listeners into your world. Could you share more about how your personal experiences, including anything from your upbringing, have influenced your creative process? Has songwriting always been your preferred method of expressing yourself creatively, and how did it originate in your life?

Songwriting has always been my outlet, ever since i was a kid i would process events in my life through writing about them. we had a piano at home and i would write songs everyday. for me writing/making music was never really a conscious choice its just always been the way that i have expressed myself creatively.

This new material marks the first in a series of upcoming releases, showcasing a refinement of perspective in your musical journey. How do you envision your approach to crafting music evolving in the future, especially as your solo work gains recognition separate from your collaborations? Are there any specific musical directions or creative goals you're excited to explore in any upcoming projects?

I am super excited about this project, it feels like the most true, honest expression of myself yet. I love collaborating with other artists in other genres, and I feel like my collaborations actually give me more of a sense of freedom in my own project. the project is very honest and raw and the sound that Phil Simmons and I have created feels super exciting and new. I can’t wait for the whole thing to be out in the world.

For ‘Without Words’ your lyrics video was an intriguing visual metaphor for exploring identity. We’re curious about the creative process behind these metaphorical images and how they relate to the messages in your music. We’ve also seen you collaborate with writing music for cinematic reflections, like the short film ‘SISTERS’ directed by Luke Jaden. We’d love to hear you expand on how visuals inform your creative process, and how you see it evolving over the next few years?

I think that visuals are so important, because the way something looks informs the way you listen to the music. i have been exploring identity and metaphor in my visuals for this project, creating a fantasy world that i feel like represents me and my life and the story i am wanting to tell. I loved composing the music for the short film ‘sisters’ i learned a lot about writing to image and it is definitely something new and exciting to me focusing on the visuals as much as the music.

Your music often paints vivid scenes and narratives. If you could transport yourself into any movie or fictional world for a day, which would it be and why? How do you think your experiences in that world would inspire your music?

I would love to be transported into Murakami world that he creates in his writing. the fantasy yet stark realness of the universe he creates really excites and inspires me. I think in all of this i am just searching for that perfect combination of fantasy and reality.

Delilah is turning heads with her song’s evocative lyricism and their accompanying visual narratives. As she continues to explore the intersection of music and storytelling, Delilah's forthcoming projects promise to captivate audiences with both her authenticity and imagination. Keep an ear to the ground for this talented artist as here at Tsk Tsk we eagerly await what’s next.
