‘Faint Echoes’ tackles themes of longing and loss, exploring the experience ofhearing voices of the past in an old home's walls, flickering lights, and slamming doors. Can you dive deeper into the personal experiences and emotions that inspired these lyrics
I was watching a film about a classic case of a haunted house and it made me ponder how I would communicate with my loved ones after I had passed and if that was at all possible. Passing of a family member made me explore the themes of longing and loss, yearning the feeling of them being present with me.
How does 'Faint Echoes' reflect the overall sound and ethos of VENUS FLY TRAP? Does it mark any significant shifts in your musical direction or thematic focus compared to your previous work?
‘Faint Echoes’ is the start of a new journey of sound, leaning more into the direction of Alternative Rock with some Stoner Rock Vibes.
What were some of the challenges and highlights during the production of 'Faint Echoes'? Were there any particular moments in the studio that stand out to you?
The biggest challenge was the middle eight section and the end of the song where our producer and Engineer Alain De Carne helped played a big role in to make it sound like it does now.
You’ve shared the stage with some impressive artists. In your circle of musical friends, who are two artists you believe are on the cusp of achieving great things, and what makes them stand out to you?
We think that ‘Thirst Trap’ and ‘Earth to Josh’ will achieve great things on their future journey. ‘Thirst Trap’ are really good live performers, their songs are great and you just start moving and dancing to them. ‘Earth to Josh’ has amazing songs with great vocal parts and thought through layered instruments. Josh is also very captivating to watch.
Looking ahead, what are some goals or milestones VENUS FLY TRAP hopes to achieve by the end of 2024? Are there any collaborations or new directions you're particularly excited about exploring?
We’re trying to release an EP by the end of the year and play another tour along the east coast and if possible Australia wide. We have two more singles to come and are working on new material for the EP. We had great collaborations on this current tour with a local brewery called ‘Spangled Drongo’ and we’re already talking about future collaborations. We also hope we can collaborate with some local clothing brands, but we haven’t got anything confirmed as of yet.
