Rum Jungle Unveils 'Electric Snowman' in Next Wave Playlist:

Featuring Rising Stars Dust, Jacotene, and More

By Tsk Tsk

Rum Jungle, the electrifying quartet known for their infectious beats and unstoppable live energy, recently unveiled their latest single, "Electric Snowman." The band sat down to discuss their creative process and the vibes behind this track, all while extending nods to their nominated artists, Dust and Jacotene, for inclusion in the Next Wave Playlist.

Tsk Tsk: The energy in 'Electric Snowman' is infectious. What was the creative process like while crafting this track, and how did you strive to capture that high-octane live experience in the studio?

Benny: This one just started off with a few chords after Benny spent some time writing with one of his brothers. It was a more chilled song originally then when we all got together to jam it, it just got all this energy with Frazers drums and Majes dirty stinkin bass. Once we got in the studio it only went bigger and the main thing we wanted to make sure we did was to not lose any momentum in the song which we can be prone to doing with some of our tunes.

Tsk Tsk: Rum Jungle has been absolutely smashing it—from selling out shows in Australia to lighting up BIGSOUND and SXSW! What secret sauce or mystical ingredient do you think Rum Jungle brings to the stage that keeps fans hyped up and coming back for more, whether it's at a sold-out gig or a massive showcase event?

Benny: We’re just four lads having fun together. We’ll add extra moments into a gig and try and make it something special but at the end of the day it’s fully just four best mates having a jam together and there luckily happens to be a few hundred people who wanna come to the party. Otherwise I guess we’d pride ourselves on having a pretty massive range of songs, from Electric snowman to Sure Fire a solo acoustic song our drummer Fraz performs.

Tsk Tsk: Within your circles, which 2-3 artists do you think are simmering on the edge of greatness? Who's writing fantastic tunes or putting on mind-blowing shows that the world needs to know about immediately?

Benny: Within Australia that’s a pretty hard question hey. Honestly could get you a pretty massive list but if I had to narrow it down to just two I’d probably say Dust who’re our mates from Newcastle Aus and they’re already making waves globally. Then there’s Jacotene who I don’t know personally but watch how huge she gets in the next few years, a true new talent out of Aus.

Alongside Rum Jungle, this curated selection showcases an array of burgeoning talents, including The Terry’s, Le Shiv, Juno, Rowena Wise, Apricot Ink, Gut Health, and numerous others. In the days and weeks ahead, we'll delve deeper into these artists' journeys, exploring their sounds, stories, and the undeniable potential that propels them toward the brink. Stay tuned for the Next Wave.
