LUCIDBLOOM
Return with Dust, a Song of Endings and Renewal
Sydney’s dream-pop collective LUCIDBLOOM return with Dust, a cathartic new single that transforms heartbreak into liberation. Equal parts haunting and euphoric, the track meditates on the exhaustion of holding onto love long expired and the clarity that arrives when you finally let go. With its visceral imagery and atmospheric soundscape, Dust captures that pivotal moment of release — when grief gives way to strength, and endings become beginnings.
Sydney dream-weavers LUCIDBLOOM are back with their latest single Dust, a powerful meditation on the weight of expired love and the freedom that comes with release.
At its core, Dust reflects the emotional toll of clinging to something that no longer serves you. Vivid imagery — a boulder dragged uphill, gravel slipping underfoot, rope cutting into skin — captures the exhaustion of carrying love long after it has faded. Yet the track refuses to wallow. Instead, its strength lies in surrender, the decisive act of rolling the boulder away and reclaiming personal power.
“There comes a point where the spark just isn’t there anymore, and the vibe turns heavy,” the band shares. “‘Dust’ captures the moment of deciding: no more. It’s an emancipation from responsibility — an ambivalence that replaces the burden of caring too much.”
Musically, Dust signals a subtle evolution for LUCIDBLOOM. Their trademark lush harmonies and atmospheric textures remain, but sharper dynamics, groove-driven basslines, and punchier beats inject the track with newfound urgency.
The single also reflects the collective’s multidisciplinary ethos. Often collaborating with visual artists and filmmakers, LUCIDBLOOM extend their music into immersive experiences. The upcoming Dust video, created with glitch artist Naomi Oliver, furthers this vision.
Written in the back of their drummer’s truck during relaxed, snack-fuelled sessions, Dust quickly became a live favourite. With launch shows in Sydney and Melbourne and an EP on the horizon, LUCIDBLOOM continue to blur the boundaries of sound, light, and art.
Dust is out now.
